Duedil is a British startup founded by Damian Kimmelman.
Damian wanted to make business more transparent, easier to understand and safer.
Duedil is short for Due Diligence, which we believe is an integral part of making better business decisions.
Our users range from mom&pop shops, to multimillion pound hedge-fund managers, accountants, journalists and business analysts.
We are funded by Passion Capital, who is predominantly funded by the UK government.
Our investors are some of the people behind Skype, LastFM, Yahoo, AOL & QXL/Tradus, and we're proud to have been chosen as a Microsoft Bizspark company.
Launched in April 2011, Duedil is the largest database of free company financials in the world. We aggregate over 30billion data points including information in the Companies House database to bring you indispensable information on every company & director in the UK & Ireland, for free.
We're disruptive, informative & addictive.
Our mission
To make business simple.
Where do you get your data from?
Companies House
Downloaded images of company accounts filed at Companies House UK are digitized and reformatted to produce the Duedil data, you see on the site.
The information is taken directly from the accounts submitted by the company. We don’t change a thing, we just analyse it and make it easier to digest.
Some of the original documents are available to download in PDF format, on the company’s Duedil profile.
Financial profiles are updated every Wednesday at midnight and our stock information is updated every 15 minutes, via the London Stock Exchange.
London Gazette
Red flag documents like dissolution notices and petitions for striking off are published in the London Gazette, the official newspaper of record in the United Kingdom.
Social
We use a number of APIs to aggregate our social data.
We pull in Twitter mentions & sentiment via the Twitter Firehose. The Linkedin API allows us to show you your social & business connections.
We sort your social results based on influence, which we gauge from Klout & Peerindex scores. By using the Quora API, we can show you relevant discussions, questions and more subjective data.
Registry Trust Coming Soon
Duedil’s County Court Judgment records come from the Registry Trust, a non-profit company which operates the Register of Judgments, Orders and Fines for England and Wales on behalf of the Ministry of Justice.
Intellectual Property Office
We pull in patents & trademarks from the Intellectual Property Office, the official government body responsible for granting Intellectual Property (IP) rights in the United Kingdom.
British and Irish Legal Information Institute
Our litigation proceedings are sourced from the British and Irish Legal Information Institute (BAILII).
Google allows us to map registered addresses & we use Google Streetview to put you right in the thick of it.
Other
In order to show you slightly trickier information, like the company descriptions, directors search, and company credit check, we use a number of sources and cross-check them against each other. We use UK Companies House, Crunchbase, Wikipedia, the company’s own website and more. We are constantly working to bring you more and more information such as detailed company credit checks, better APIs and clearer social information.
How can you give it all away for free?
Companies House doesn’t put any limit on how you use the information, once you have acquired it. http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/about/ifts.shtml This allows us to download the information, digitize it, graph it and give away, for free.
How do you make money?
We receive funding from investors, who believe in Duedil.
Duedil is completely free.
In the future we will be charging our premium users for extra services, but everything you see on the site today, will always be free.
